01 Aug 07 - The UN Security Council last night passed a resolution authorising a UN/AU mission of up to 26,000 troops and police to protect the people of Darfur. Ahead of the vote on the resolution, which was tabled by and , Gordon Brown addressed the UN stating, “we must be clear if any party blocks progress and the killings continue, I and others will redouble our efforts to impose further sanctions. The message for Darfur is that it is time for change.”
