NFER has been commissioned by Purely Nutrition Ltd to evaluate the effectiveness of the PhunkyFoods programme in terms of its implementation in schools, and its impact on pupil outcomes. The PhunkyFoods programme aims to support schools in teaching primary children about healthy eating and physical activity. The study will evaluate the impact of the PhunkyFoods programme and, on the basis of the evidence obtained, will make recommendations for its further development.

The programme takes place over four days and covers key chemistry concepts providing hands-on experience of pupil practical work and teacher demonstrations.

Narrowing the Gap (NtG) is a two-year development and research programme, funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Local Government Association (LGA), working in partnership with other agencies, including local authorities. It seeks to make a significant difference, on a national scale, to the performance of Children’s Trust arrangements in ‘narrowing the gap’ in outcomes between ‘vulnerable’ children and the rest.
