Olympic medallist leads international cycling challenge for Aegis .

The Aegis Citycard Cycles 100km challenge drew to a close in style this week as riders took to the road in the Central African Republic and in the UK with double Olympic medallist Bryan Steel. Raising funds for Aegis, the ride featured a team of more than a dozen participants from Nottingham City Council – putting their trusty green Citycard bikes to a stern test.

Nottingham City Council is teaming up this September with Olympic cycling medallist Bryan Steel and the Aegis Trust - which is based in Notts - to sponsor a cycling challenge that will raise vital funds for Aegis’ peacebuilding education and genocide prevention work internationally.

On the eve of a rally in London marking 25 years of Omar Bashir’s genocidal rule in Sudan and calling for him to step down, Aegis’ Special Representative on Crimes Against Humanity, Dr Mukesh Kapila, has made a plea for Sudan’s people and the international community to unite for change in the war-torn country, which Bashir has ruled since a military coup on 30 June 1989.
