Aegis launches Global Centre for Humanity on Kigali Genocide Memorial 10th anniversary .

Partners of the Aegis Trust from Rwanda and around the World gathered yesterday in the new amphitheatre at the Kigali Genocide Memorial to celebrate its first ten years, and to take part in Aegis’ launch of the Global Centre for Humanity - a new international institute to have its home at the Memorial andsupport people in countries like South Sudan and the Central African Republic to overcome the divisions that lead to mass atrocities and build resilient, united communities. On behalf of the Government of Rwanda, the launch was attended and supported by Minister of Education, Dr Vincent Biruta, and Mr Jean Philbert Nsengimana, Minister of Youth and ICT.

Maureen Lipman joins Holocaust survivors to celebrate CBE for Aegis founder .

Actress Maureen Lipman joined Holocaust survivors and supporters of Aegis and the National Holocaust Centre yesterday in a surprise celebration for Dr James Smith, CEO of Aegis and President of the Holocaust Centre, following his visit to Buckingham Palace to be presented with a CBE by Prince Charles. The CBE, awarded for services to Holocaust education and genocide prevention, was announced in the Queen’s New Year Honours.
