Growing Concerns

Growing Concerns

Alongside images of flooded towns and villages, we are now being bombarded with reports about the recent heavy rain and floods damaging the quantity and quality of wheat, pea and potato crops. Further worries are emerging that heavily waterlogged soils will hamper the planting of follow-on crops for winter and spring harvest. It is clear, then, that the weather's effects on our domestic food production are not going to be short-lived.
