Long-term care – who will pay the bill? debt

Long-term care – who will pay the bill? debt

As Canada's population ages, a growing number of frail seniors will require long-term care. Currently, the financing of long-term care is a patchwork. Access to long-term care and its cost to individuals vary depending on the region where they live and whether they are still at home or in a residential facility. How will governments address the anticipated increase in long-term care needs in the next two decades and beyond? Because there is little information about the level of public funding currently available, let alone future funding, Canadians are not in a position to make informed decisions on how to plan for their care needs in the future.
