Eco-Labelling and the World Trade Organization. Potentially incompatible with WTO rules ecological labels are nonetheless a very useful, market-based policy instrument. This paper argues that there is no need to amend WTO rules to encompass eco-labels - arguing instead for more international co-ordination of standards used in eco-labelling programmes.
