NSF-AAAS Student Research Conference Underlines the Importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities ATLANTA, Georgia—Historically black colleges and universities play a significant—but often unrecognized—role in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education of minority students in the United States, producing scientists and engineers ready to apply their education to the important problems of the day.
