Famine: the Failure of Development? Southern Africa. It is currently estimated that between 13 and 15 million people will need up to 4m tonnes of food aid over the coming nine months in Southern Africa in 2003. This information centre based on an ODI meeting in July provides reports from the discussions on the day of the complex causes of the current food crisis in Southern Africa, and options for dealing with them.
