Public confidence in America’s public schools and the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) declined in 2008 according to new research by Martin West, assistant professor of education at Brown University. West co-authored the second annual national survey administered by Education Next, a journal about school reform published by the Hoover Institution and the Program on Education Policy and Governance (PEPG) at Harvard University.

High-quality preschool programs can boost school readiness for both poor and middle-class children, according to researchers at Georgetown University. Their study, published in the journal Science on June 27, found substantial gains in cognitive skills for four-year-olds enrolled in school-based prekindergarten programs and Head Start programs in Tulsa, Okla. .

Traditionally held the day before undergraduate commencement, tropaia exercises held by the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, Walsh School of Foreign Service, McDonough School of Business and Georgetown College recognize graduating scholars who have demonstrated academic and leadership accomplishments during their time on campus.
