An All-of-Government Approach to Post-Separation Families: The Australian experience of reforming child support

Between 2004 and 2005, a Government taskforce in Australia conducted a major review of the formula used to assess child support, together with the interaction of the child support system with government benefits. The result was a completely new formula, based upon the best available evidence of the costs of children and expenditure patterns in families. At this event, Prof. Parkinson, who chaired the taskforce, will talk about how the taskforce developed this evidence-based, all-of-government, approach to reform and will also comment on the proposed British reforms .
